Charlie Pierce - Hutchinson

President

Charles Pierce graduated from Pittsburg State in 1980 with a degree in biology and Masters in 1982. He has taught 9 years at Bishop Miege in Kansas City and 27 years at Hutchinson. As far as coaching goes, Charlie coached wrestling for 9 years at Miege, Asst Golf for 8 years at Miege, Head Boys for 1 year at Miege where they placed 3rd in 5A State. Charile was Asst golf coach at Hutchinson for 7 years and Charlie has been head girls and boys coach fo the last 16 years, winning a state championship in 2005, placed 3rd in 2008, 2nd in 2009 and 3rd in 2010. He was KCA Coach of the year in 2005 and Midwest Section Coach of the year in 2005. Charlie currently serves as KJGA North Central Section Chairman and with Operations for the USGA and 21 US Opens. He has been happily married to Pam for 37 years and is also the father of Sarah and Andrew and grandfather to Will, Lizzy and Jackson.

Jared Goehring - Washburn Rural

Vice President

Jared Goehring currently serves as the head boys and girls golf coach at Washburn Rural High School in Topeka. He graduated from Washburn Rural in 1999 and Washburn University in 2003 with his bachelors degree in Physical Education and was a 3 year member on the Men's Golf Team while at Washburn. He earned his Masters degree in Athletic Administration through William Woods University. He has taught Physical Education and Sports Medicine for 13 years at Washburn Rural and his teams have won five 6A State Championships. He recently coached his girls team to a 6A State Championship in the fall of 2017. Prior to the girls championship, he led his boys team to a 6A State Championship in 2015. He has coached three individual state champions as well in 2013, 2014 & 2016. He has been named the KCA coach of the year in 2014 and the Midwest Section Coach of the Year in 2015. He is the acting President of the Topeka Junior Golf Association and has two children; Peyton (10 years old) and Preslee (6 years old). Coach Goehring currently serves as the department chair for the Physical Education department at WRHS.

Ryan Best - St Thomas Aquinas

Treasurer

Ryan Best has taught Theology at Saint Thomas Aquinas, in Overland Park, since 1997-98 school year. A graduate of Benedictine College (BA Theology) and a Masters in Teaching from the University of Saint Mary. Over the years at Aquinas he has been involved in many roles in Campus Ministry as well as teaching Theology. He is the Head Boys and Girls Golf Coach with a total of 12 Kansas State Championships, as well as a total of nine individual State Champions (3 boys, and 6 girls). He was selected as the Kansas Coaches Association 2002 Girls Coach of the Year and the 2010 National High School Coaches Association Girls Golf Coach of the Year. Married to Stacy, who teaches at Good Shepherd Catholic Elementary in Shawnee, with three children Rylee, CJ, and Elliana.

Jim Mapel - Dodge City

6A Rep

Jim Mapel has been head boys golf coach at Dodge City High School since 1995 and has been head girls coach since 1997. Jim will represent the 6A schools on the board.

Mark Berger - Wichita Bishop-Carroll

5A Rep

I have been coaching boys and girls golf at Bishop Carroll for the last 19 seasons, the last 14 seasons as head coach. This is my 24th year teaching mathematics, the last 21 here at Bishop Carroll. I also take great joy in serving as the Bishop Carroll scholars bowl coach. If you attend a home basketball game at Bishop Carroll you will hear my voice as I am also the public address announcer for home basketball games. I am blessed with an amazing wife and five children so I spend some of my free time helping coach them in baseball, basketball, bowling, and hopefully golf. I

James Ginter - Wellington

4A Rep

James Ginter graduated from Emporia State University in 1995 with a degree in Biology and 1997 with a degree in Secondary Education. He has taught science at Wellington High School for each of his 25 years in education. He is the Head Boys and Girls Golf Coach with 1 Kansas State Boys Championship (2021), as well as a total of three individual State Champions (2 boys, and 1 girl). He was selected as the Kansas Coaches Association 2021 Boys Coach of the Year,, 2021 NFHS Golf Coach of the Year (Kansas), 2021 NFHS Section V Golf Coach of the Year and FCA Coach of the Year for 2022. Other sports he’s coached include basketball (boys & girls), volleyball and softball. He is is the father of three beautiful girls and enjoys chasing them around to events throughout the year.

Grady Pauls

3A Rep

Grady Pauls went to Hutchinson Community College from 2005-2007 and then continued his education at Wichita State University. He graduated in 2010 with a degree in Physical Education. While going to school he was a member of the golf team at both institutions. Grady has been the Head Golf Coach at Hesston High School for 13 years. The Swathers were 3A State Champions in 2022, 3A Runner-Up's in 2014 & 2017, 3A Third Place in 2016, and 3A 4th Place in 2015 & 2018. As an assistant coach Grady also helped Brennan Torgerson win a Girls 4A State Championship for Buhler. Grady is currently a producer at Fuqua Insurance Group in Hesston, KS. He is married to his wife, Ashlee and has two kids, Landry and Grayson.
